Day 2 Dawn’s Light

Stretching in the grey morning light. Through the curtains, black silhouettes become ash brown limbs covered in sparse golden leaves. The air is crisp and cool. The furnace rumbles and the soft folds of the comforter call, gently lulling back to sleep. Outside a crow calls. Down below the kitchen door thumps shut. Alas the day begins too early, grey skies now blue and white.
