Carpe Diem #1704 Beachcomber … Renga With Jane Reichhold
Beachcombing (Message In A Bottle)
missing the malls
on the ocean beach
she gathers shells
designer sandal peering
from remains of sandcastle
afternoon wind
all the beachcomber’s words
blown out to sea
setting sun swallowing
colorful phrases
high tide
the beach leaves a mark
in her book
she laughs as I retrieve
a floating umbrella
cold beach walk
on sun-warmed car seats
two sweatshirts
soft cotton caresses skin
waves in background roar
a special beach
I put a pebble in my mouth
before leaving
the jagged cliffs fading
blackness, yet everything remains
smelling the light
on her tanned shoulder
home from the beach
she slips into nothingness
spilling the sand from her shoes
