below the falls
ensnared in ancient roots
driftwood and grandson
uncoiling tongue
silent black swallowtail sips
ummingbird nectar
red admiral lands
deftly on Echinacea’s
spiny center
tiger swallowtail
joins the hummingbirds
in the mimosa
sunlit spiderweb
each strand catching
a rainbow
sakura festival
trees and lake adorned
in shades of pink
harvest moon
bearing down on us
shouting for attention
once in a blue moon we notice
our impact upon nature
full harvest moon
awakening primal urges
amber light flows
together in the crisp air
we howl at the moon
Couldn’t decide which version I liked better. (This was 10 years ago)
