Zenith

Carpe Diem #1460 heat at zenith (hizakari)

I’ve been too busy to post so I’m posting threesummer prompts

Carpe Diem #1458 short night (mijikayo)

this short night
the mosquito’a  whin
filling the cracks

Carpe Diem #1459 evening lull (yuunagi)

evening lull
we sit on the swing
counting fireflies

Carpe Diem #1460 heat at zenith (hizakari)

heat of the day
the cicadas pulsating buzz
stirring discomfort

Renga Challenge #1

Carpe Diem’s Renga Challenge #1 a cherry tree blooming in old age

The haiku are © Basho (Tr. Jane Reichhold, “Basho, The Complete Haiku”  The renga lines are mine.

the voice of reeds
sounds like the autumn wind
from another mouth

echoing with loneliness
stirring the hopes of the past

in summer rain
would you be happy with
the moon’s face

when an other’s wistful eyes
shine much brighter than the stars

separated by clouds
the wild goose lives apart for a while
from his friend

someday soon, my darling love
we too will be together

cherry blossoms
fading to soon
passage to summer

reflecting sunlight
teardrops fall
on faded petals

snowy breeze
dries my tears
carrying new hope
