fragile beauty
windows glazed over
crystal frost feather

cranberries covered with sugar
garnish rich cake tops
abet temptation

first hoarfrost
crying kitten wakes household
to winter wonderland

early frost
garden flowers decked out
glistening crystals

Blue Moon

Halloween treat
blue moon shining
on ghosts and ghoulies

wind in the trees
shadows dance wildly
under a blue moon

Blue Hunter’s Moon
chill of winter preys
on our hearts

Caught by the Call

Carpe Diem Celebrates Its 8th Anniversary October 2020: #1835 caught by the call (Hando)

We were to create a poem in the sense and spirit of this poem by Hando

caught by the call
of the flowers and mountain, I forget
how steep the path is

© Hando

compelled by the moon
we walk creating warmth
your hand in my hand

kitten pouncing
at the candlelight shadows
we forget the storm

Carpe Diem Celebrates Its 8th Anniversary October 2020: Carpe Diem #1834 sunflowers

afternoon feasting
prize sunflowers disappear
with the fading light

Images are some of this past year’s work. The birds sold almost as soon as my sister hung it in her shop.

Carpe Diem #1833 butterfly

butterfly hatching
my daughter’s eyes
tell a story

tattered wings
sail into autumn skies
were you kept too long

my grandson squeals
hanging on an orange lily
hatching butterfly

over the years
butterfly fascination
stirring hopes and dreams
every hatching imbued
secrets and memories

Carpe Diem Celebrates Its 8th Anniversary October 2020: Carpe Diem #1832 Narcissus (Daffodils)

knee deep in snow
arriving too early
spring daffodil

spring’s first joy
daffodils and bluebells
dotting the hillside

Carpe Diem Celebrates Its 8th Anniversary, October 2020: Carpe Diem #1831 Dolphins

morning sun
swimming pod glistens
heavenly sight

evening tide
dolphins brining luck
to fishermen’s nets

Delphinus leaps high
lighting the northern sky
this late summer night
Arion the grateful poet
soothes the sky with his lyre

Rainy Days

Carpe Diem Time Challenge #4 rainy days

rain soaked days
roses and sunflowers bow
puddles of tears

rainy days
naked trees reflected
in autumn souls

rainy autumn
bright colors bleeding
into pools of black
