New Years

New Year’s gong
resonates through the trees
I count each stroke

(108 strokes -one to expel each weakness)

bird songs
shorten the night
your arms hold me

we dance
in soft moonlight
barefoot in wet grass

childhood joy
a frog wriggles
to get away

first toad
my daughter
builds a house

Skylark

spring sounds
a sightless song
skylark

skylarks song suspended
somewhere overhead
