in the hot afternoon sun
fruits wither before capturing

First Snow

Carpe Diem #1797 New Beginnings … First Snow

mid January
we have yet to see
the first snow

children rejoice
house bubbles with laughter
first snow flurries

In Deep Prayer

Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation #111 Troiku … New Beginnings … Lotus starts to bloom

in deep prayer
eyes closed in devotion –
Lotus starts to bloom

in deep prayer
grandmother chants
a favorite verse

eyes closed in devotion
she slowly nods
mother smiles faintly

lotus starts to bloom
whistling kettle, sweet aroma
draw her back again

New Born

Carpe Diem #1794 New Beginnings … new born

first suckling
warmth of your skin
your sweet, sweet smell

darkened cage
three pair of eyes stare back
unexpected guineas

First Day of Spring

Carpe Diem #1793 New Beginnings … first day of spring

first day of spring
iris shoots covered in frost
stinkbug on the screen

amber sunrise
walking stick sprouts a new leaf
ushering spring

from beneath the snow
golden crocus erupt
spring’s first song

Carpe Diem #1728 Columbine

ring of doves
gracing the garden
with early color

pink, purple and red
columbine naturalizes
throughout the yard

rubbing my hands
with your beauty for courage
facing the road ahead
