fields heavy with frost
sliver of autumn moon shines
creating a dim path
early harvest moon
sipping tea on the back porch
shadows grow stranger
trees stripped of color
savage autumn winds raging
our hearts too, left bare
full beaver moon
unrelenting north wind howls
night grows longer
autumn reflections
resound with departing geese
loneliness spreads
early light of dawn
sets the trees on fire
this winter morning
ocean waves
blush in the kiss of dawn
seagull fishes
against peach skies
dawn exposes cloud castles
watching the waves

my grandson watches
butterfly wings unfurl
daylily and butterfly
emerge together
sunny afternoon

kaleidoscopic wings
mesmerizing
uncoiling tongue
silent black swallowtail sips
ummingbird nectar
red admiral lands
deftly on Echinacea’s
spiny center
tiger swallowtail
joins the hummingbirds
in the mimosa
sunlit spiderweb
each strand catching
a rainbow
sakura festival
trees and lake adorned
in shades of pink
