Psalm 4:1

1 Answer me when I call to you,my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

My God! My God! Why are you silent.
I do not hear you in the wind,
nor in the deep silence.
Why would you hear my voice,
be bothered by my trivial problems
when there are so many whose prayers go unheard?
Where is the relief for those in deep distress;
the mercy for the poor, the refugees?

I call wanting answers, just one small miracle, but my God, you have closed your ears to my cry,
cut me off for my unrighteousness.
Yet, what about the cries of the starving children,
the cries of the unconsoled mother,
the cries of the war ravaged displace people.
My God, will even their voices not soften your heart?
Will you not hear their cries?

Why do you not answer me? Answer my cries?
Are you tired of telling me, stirring a passion,
igniting a fire only to watch it
snuffed out by my own self indulgence,
my own lack of involvement?
Please answer me, my God,
give me some relief in my distress.
If not me, then whom will you hear?
