or the year gone away?

or the year gone away?

icy rain falls
yet birds still twitter
hellebore’s first blooms
leaves ravaged with frost burn
crocus hide
snow drifts
in early April
birds flock to the feeders
tulips bow their heads
I grab a sweater
torrential rains
pool around new plants
spring has come
playing foul tricks
this second month
warm weather creeping
