Day 35: Green Leaf: Haibun Journey View From My Window

The light from the window is bright this morning. I look out at a calm grey sky. I see there are still seed pods clinging to the mimosa tree. In the small maple a long abandon nest, and on the ground a strange green leaf with two large water drops. I decide to investigate. The trees drip water on my head and there is a fine mist falling. The damp earthy air makes me long for spring planting and my hands in the soil. I look for the green leaf. I discover, things aren’t always as they seem.
