Day 34 Stalking: Haibun Journey View From My Window

From my window I watch the cardinals at the feeder. The male comes first in his scarlet feathers. His head unmarred by summer peckings. As he leaves, the female approaches. They alternate feeding and I wonder why they can’t eat at the same time. Across the neighbors yard a the ugly cat slowly approaches. He is broad and stocky, quite large with mostly white fur, but something about his face makes him the ugliest of felines. He stops by the garage to groom but I know his eyes are set on my feeder.
